These passages from Proverbs were selected by God for translation. This book was truely inspired by Him. The book of Proverbs is known and said to be written by the only wisest man, King Solomon, the son of David. King Solomon was young and inexperienced and knew God. When asked by God "What shall I give you?" he asked for an understanding mind and a hearing heart to judge God's people that I may discern between good and bad. For who is able to judge and rule this great people? (1 Kings 3:3) 1 Chronicles 1:12 says, "Wisdom and knowledge are granted to you. And I will give you riches, possessions, honor and glory such as none of the kings had before you, and none after you shall have their equal." was God's response to King Solomon's request. Many of us read Proverbs and find them somewhat strange. Many are easily understood but what really are they? What are they trying to tell us?
