The author A. H. Henderson: was born out of the Depression. Raised out of World War II. The fifties was a pampering and comforting time. The sixties were hectic: college, employment, marriage, and Vietnam. The seventies forward the adventures interfiled. A. H. Henderson has had numerous experiences and exploits during his life that he has folded into the John Anthony Henry Adventures in the book "Saving Fort Henry."

At four years of age, A. H. Henderson was involved in an automobile accident while driving by alone. At five A. H. was run over and dragged by a car. A. H. was not injured in these early adventures, go figure. These episodes were only the start of a life full of exciting adventures.

During the fifties A. H. Henderson would spend his summer delightfully with his Granny and Step-Grandfather on their farm. The farm was location outside a small town in the middle of Illinois. A. H. Henderson's Granny was to provide him a moral compass for life. It was to take A. H. later into life to understand and appreciate the moral compass.

The 1960's started peacefully with college, employment, and marriage, then the rug was pulled out, Vietnam. On returning to the U.S. after Vietnam, A. H. Henderson like many other veterans attempted to navigate and conform to a peaceful life. This was pursued with great difficulty. Returning from Vietnam was like being in the quicksand of life, the harder A. H. tried to fit in and be "normal" the further A. H. was sinking into quicksand of despair. His marriage was gone, no fault of his wife. He was to spend some years on his own trying to find his way out of the briar patch Vietnam. His salvation was work and his two sons.

The years passed, work was his sanity, and his sons was his reason for living. The nights and weekends, A.H. was to return to the scratches and discomfort of the briar patch. A marvelous woman was to enter his live and she started trimming the thickets entrapping A. H. After five years of trimming, resulted in almost freedom from the briar patch and entering a happy marriage.

Enough about A. H. Henderson, the John Anthony Henry adventures book "Saving Fort Henry" is not a mirror of A. H. Henderson's life, but a mirror smashed into a thousand pieces, each piece having a partial reflection of his life. John Anthony Henry was a broken man returning to a troubled town of Fort Henry after twenty-eight years. What is awaiting John Anthony Henry?
