Rawhead is a fictional story based on true-life family and events. The family featured in the story indeed lived and worked as tenants on a dairy farm named Rawhead in Cheshire, England. Five of the nine brothers in the family served honorably in World War 1 as members of Her Royal Majesty's Navy and Army. Their ultimate fates described herein are true, as is the history of the war and the great personages named.
