Our Harvest Is From The Deep

Our harvest was not borne in the fields but from the deep They were earthy yields from ‘neath our feet

Our harvest was not veg nor corn but fish and coal caesarean born Blackened earth and swimming shoal

Our harvest was no farmers chore but the Miners and the Fishermens mission Who dug the land and trawled the shore Enduring despite harsh condition

Let our harvest and our history be revealed Like the land itself upon which we used to reap For our heritage still lives on in old North Shields So behold our harvest from the deep.
