Sunflowers

A Marine Corps officer, in and out of his first relationship, who felt overwhelming emotions with no way to express them until he learned to communicate his emotions through poetry. This book is the start of such expression which leads him to tackle ideas of happiness, love, expectations, fear, jealousy, hope.

"My name is Addis Sansone, I'm twenty-six, it's 5:00 a.m., and I'm struggling to find the will to get out of my bed. I must be at my military base by 7:00 a.m., before the troops arrive, because officers are always first.

I contemplate the idea of never waking up a minimum of three times a day because I don't know how to handle my emotions ever since the love of my life left me. How do other people handle heartbreak? Why is love the best thing that ever happened to me and also the most debilitating pain I've ever had to deal with?"
