After pushback from some powerful boosters, Western Alabama University President Charles Conners calls on Atwater High School Football Coach Kirby Williams, an eight time state champion and three time USA Today National Champion and leader of the premiere program in high school football in the country, to ignite a brand new program at Western. Williams interviews for the job, is hired and must navigate the challenges in pursuing his dream of winning national championships in college football. He faces severe challenges from a corrupt alumnus and his equally if not more corrupt cohort, personal attacks on his character, community tragedies, and, very importantly, winning over his team.
