UBIX is a fascinating, complex thriller set in the near future. It examines the space between technology, humanity and the search for knowledge. The narrative centers around Detective Jess Blair who takes on a case when her former lover Tim Ames mysteriously falls into a coma after encountering an entity called UBIX. Ames, a retired professor, lives in a smart house located in the forests of Humboldt County, California. Blair soon discovers a connection between Ames and others who have also mysteriously fallen into comas. The enigmatic entity calling itself UBIX claims to be part of a collective alien consciousness that has evolved away from physical form. UBIX seeks omniscience by gathering knowledge from life forms throughout the universe. Blair is in a race against time as she learns that many of the others have not survived and Ames body is failing.

UBIX presents a thought-provoking dilemma about the quest for knowledge and the risks of continuing to rely on technology. As society moves forward with smart technology, we must make sure that we do not lose our humanity in the process.
