When Mary MacIntosh does not seek reelection as a prosecuting attorney in Sheridan Wyoming, she is approached by FBI prof or John Douglas to consult with him and the FBI on solving serial murder cases in the United States. Joan of Ark, Marie Antoinette, Vincent van Gogh, Albert Einstein, and the last victim is a reminder of Marilyn Monroe.
