Max and Mandy are brother and sister barn swallows who live in the trees outside an airport. They're flying away from their flock to explore the area where older barn swallows gather handouts from airport passengers. Despite their parents' warning about the danger of flying near airplanes unless they're grown up, the two young barn swallows believe that an airline terminal is an exciting place to have fun and find food.
