For six years, Shane Reed played the perfect stand-in for Ethan Crow's long-lost love. Then, out of nowhere, he loses his memory-and with it, his patience for being anyone's second choice.

Ethan liked his stand-ins petite and delicate, but Shane, with his newfound defiance, was having none of it. With a sharp tongue and newfound appetite, Shane demanded, "Six years together, and you couldn't even feed me properly?!"

Caught off guard, Ethan scrambled to please him, going as far as to present a roasted piglet in apology.

When the true love returned and dared to cling to Ethan's arm, Shane showed no mercy, knocking their perfect face off with a single slap. "Cheating? Fine by me!"

With his bag in hand, Shane was ready to walk out for good. Desperate, Ethan fumbled for words, blurting, "Don't go... There's goose stew tonight."

Food over feelings, Shane paused. Goose stew was his favorite, after all. "Fine," he said grudgingly, "I'll eat first, then leave."

As Shane grew more confident (and well-fed), Ethan found himself treading lightly. Every day, something would set Shane off-whether it was dusty furniture, bland food, or the scale tipping a pound too low. His friends advised him to move on, to let Shane go.

But Ethan, with a strange fondness in his voice, replied, "He's a habit I can't break."
