For 11-year-old Lani, a quiet winter evening at her family's old cottage in Poludnica turns into a nightmare. Her parents are stranded in town, unable to return through the storm, leaving her to fend for herself in the eerie silence of the mountain night. But when the howls of dire wolves pierce the darkness, Lani discovers she's not as alone as she thought.

What starts as a terrifying chase through her creaking, shadow-filled cottage pushes her out into the frozen wilderness of the Tatras. The storm howls, the wolves follow, and the mountain's secrets begin to unravel. Poludnica's underdark-a maze of tunnels and chambers beneath the mountain-beckons, but entering means confronting far more than just wolves.

Deep within the icy heart of the mountain lies the Midday Lady of legend, a fearsome and powerful guardian said to protect treasures older than time. To survive, Lani must summon courage she never knew she had, face the trials of Poludnica, and uncover a treasure needed for the Slavic gods very survival.
