Returning from a fateful trip to Antarctica, career science student Elliot has only one goal: a quick (and ideally painless) death. His plans are thwarted by Izzy, a hacker/recalled augment on the run who just wants to make the city a better place. Elliot's skills (gained primarily through a lifetime on the streets) are just what they need to keep their mission alive; if they can just keep him alive long enough to get over whatever sent him spiraling in the first place. He refuses to say. In fact, Elliot can't seem to talk at all; it feels too much like unraveling.

Izzy finds ways to keep him busy nonetheless: picking vegetables for the local food banks, mending clothing and repairing electronics, vaccinating the homeless. Oh, and they're going to need him to steal back their ocular implant from an evil corporation at some point, too. No big deal.
