Gaius is the world's first truly sentient artificial intelligence, housed in an android body designed with a physically accurate human appearance. It was created without the ability to understand or replicate human emotions. A second artificial intelligence, known as Katya, has been created using nanotechnology suspended in a liquid matrix capable of merging with the neural network of Gaius to correct the error. The designer of Katya learns that the company responsible for both Ais, Pilson Industries, has designs on using the combined units to expand their influence across the world and leaves with Katya and intends to instead have Katya merge with a human subject. Pilson Industries sends operatives after the designer and her team and Katya is instead injected into another person. They are then pursued across a virtual world and the real world as Gaius takes over the company and begins the expansion until they find a way to fight back and stop the AI from taking over the world.
