The Day the Martians Landed for Real
A M McCaffrey
Jonathan, is sent to Earth as an infant, knowing nothing of his true heritage. Rider, an emissary from Jonathan's home dimension, tracks him down and finds Jonathan has grown up to become a brilliant, but unhappy young man, who has experienced a lifetime sense of displacement. Rider tells Jonathan that we live in a multi-reality universe that is only one universe among many. His mission is to prepare Jonathan to lead an army against a coming invasion of Earth, but there is another, far more important reason why Jonathan must win the final battle. The invaders, an unknown hybrid species who look almost identical to humans, land in Pole County in the USA, and immediately shut off all communication with the outside world. The hostile invaders enslave the population, and humans nickname the uncommunicative invaders 'Martians.' Years pass inside the conquered county, but no time passes in the outside world, and no help comes.
In the bubble of reality created by the invaders Jonathan further experiences the multiplicity of physical planes that exist in the universe, but it is in an immaterial realm that he is to find his true identity and purpose. Jonathan has to prove himself worthy, but his task is immense, and should he fail, he can expect no mercy.
