She had only met her new husband's family the day before, as they had had to start immediately on the wagon train. The group was the last to arrive. Abigail had barely had time to meet the boys, who had spent most of the day napping on top of their father's book boxes after a sleepless night before on the train up from their hometown. She had spoken mostly to Laura, who had joined her inside the second wagon.
