I thought Adam Jian - the CEO of my company - was going to fire me because according to my supervisor, I am "the world's worst intern."

"Oh, I'm sorry-"

He waves his hand. "It's all right. He's made peace with it."

But you haven't. However, I leave the words unsaid.

He continues, "My father says he wants to see his only son get married before he dies." Then he looks right into my eyes. "So will you marry me?"
