Imaging is a significant diagnostic aid to the clinical evaluation of a patient with dental disease. Imaging has proven to be absolutely essential for accurate diagnostic in dentistry since ages; which makes even greater sense in recent times with rapidly revolutionising and evolving variety of radiographic modalities. After the discovery of X rays by Sir Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen in November 1895; the use of intraoral radiography commenced as early as within first months of 1896.Since then, dental radiography consisted pretty much of original twodimensional intraoral radiography which was used in making the first intraoral radiograph. The dental radiography was dominated primarily by intraoral periapical radiographs, bitewing and occlusal radiographs until the 1960s, when the introduction of panoramic radiography made it a valuable two-dimensional imaging option for the dental practitioners. The widened view of all teeth and supporting structures provided by the panoramic radiograph rendered a lot of information to the practising dentists from a single radiograph.
