When the world misses its carbon neutral targets there's a price to pay. And Kent Sanderson is one of the millions living in the First World who's paying it.

The fallout of net zero being not zero sees a new youth-led government elected on a ticket of Planet Before People in a last desperate attempt to save the world. Everyone, including Kent, is forced to stay home and have their lives watched over by a live-in drone to ensure they do little or nothing to speed up the demise of the planet.

While Kent's mild manners enable him to handle the restrictions - up to a point - almost everyone else isn't getting on quite so well with their invasive house guests, including Kent's morose pal Mac, and usually-chipper Chris. In an attempt to quell growing unrest, The Powers - as the government now likes to call itself - decide to give the populace a one day break from their drones and drudgery, during which they MUST leave their homes and party like it's 1999 or any other vintage year they had before all this carbon neutral zero footprint misery.

But when Chris goes missing on the morning of the big day, Kent has to put the wantonness on hold and find his pal. Sadly for him, but enthrallingly for you, Kent's search reveals the true and dark reason behind why Freedom For All Day is happening. And why some choose to alternatively dub the day a Fight Against Drones day or, more chillingly, Flying Ant Day.
