In "Streets of Strength" follow me as I navigate through this roller coaster of youth gun violence, grief, loss, and mental health awareness. I was just eleven years old when my cousin Domoni Gaither was shot and killed. It was a brutal reality of grief. His sudden death was just the start of a series of heart- wrenching losses that left me drowning in tears of grief, including the deaths of my great grandmother and great uncle. The losses pushed me into depression and forced me to mentally grow up fast. Despite the weight of grief, I turned my pain into purpose with the founding of Broken Concrete DC, a nonprofit dedicated to gun violence prevention, catalyzed by the loss of my cousin Kyndall Myers. Yet, tragedy struck again with the loss of my friend Akira Wilson, fueling my purpose to advocate for my community against senseless violence.
