Learning to Fly the Right Way is a Simple Matter of Connecting the Dots...
There are plenty of "Learning to Fly" books on the market that will walk you through the steps to get your Private Pilot Certificate, scratching only the surface, and leaving you with more questions than answers. This is not one of those books. This book goes much deeper.
This flying manual is an in-depth study that focuses on fundamental flight training concepts and how to put them into practice. It's about what student pilots and/or advanced pilots should expect from a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI). It is also an excellent source that existing CFIs can incorporate into their own curriculums, organized in the same way good flight instructors teach, with essential flight lessons sandwiched between before and after briefs. The simplicity of this method is undeniably a lost art in our current aviation environment.
Each lesson involves a checklist, presenting precisely what should be done on the training flight, listing standardized procedures for each task, followed by a detailed brief on why, how, and where we perform the task. This format teaches students how to fly with specific methods and procedures, building high knowledge and proficiency.
Quite simply, there is not a book out there like this one. It connects the minutiae of knowledge and procedures together, Connecting the Dots, to provide readers with the "Big Picture" as well as an anchor pilots can rely on as they move forward in their aviation endeavors. Students who have utilized these proven procedures are my strongest supporters. And yes, it works!
John Berkstresser has been instructing General Aviation (GA) Pilots for almost 50 years. In this time, he has perfected the art of teaching students to fly quickly, efficiently, and without breaking the bank! He is passionate about helping aspiring pilots into their aviation careers, both military and civilian, and he believes that it shouldn't take an exorbitant number of hours to become a Private Pilot. He has proven it, time and again.
