Joe the Carpenter

David Falcon

Joe the Carpenter is about a blue-collar, middle-aged working man who is not very religious. Joe is a widower going through a mid-life crisis and spends his days sulking in a bar until he meets a long-lost childhood friend who sets Joe up with a teenager half his age. When Mary, the girl, mentions she is pregnant with another man's child. Joe attempts to back out of the marriage until his friend threatens to report Joe to the authorities for a crime he did not commit. The couple weds, and Mary gives birth to a son called Jesus. The child is brought up like any other boy and eventually becomes a man whose only intention is to do good and preach the word of God. Then, one day, Jesus loses his temper (a trait inherited from his mother) and gets in trouble with the authorities. Jesus is arrested and sentenced to death by crucifixion. Joe's only hope to save Jesus is to trust a plan devised by the childhood friend who arranged the marriage in the first place. For those who may have difficulty accepting some of the written Christian dogma, Joe the Carpenter brings a pragmatic view of the most incredible story ever told.
