This is a small mixture of some of my more recent humbly attempted poems dealing mainly with spirituality, philosophy and nature. I make no claim as to whether they are any good or not; all I can do is offer them as they happened, a reflection of what I may have felt or experienced in heart and head at a particular time in my life. As hard as I tried to say what I really wanted to say they will always be lacking and insufficient. I understand gaps left on purpose for light to rise up into can be very rewarding in this art but difficult to master.

Since I was a youth, I've been composing music and writing lyrics but poetry is a different animal altogether. It's special if you can get the words to sing without any musical accompaniment. Rhymes in my poems fall all over but I do try to maintain a steady beat. almost meditatively. I think that its best to read these poems slowly and in rhythm. I plead with the reader for forgiveness if I miserably failed but I do believe the poet is a calling like any other vocation and needs to be attempted no matter what the consequence. Some may feel the need to fill up volume's others just little snippets here and there are all that is needed. I don't think it really matters just as long as you are true to yourself and the craft. Let each poem stand on its own as an innocent before the jury of readers. If it moves and shifts the soul, touches a person in some way or another, then great and if it doesn't, well I just have to keep on trying and learn from every shortcoming.

All the best,

Dennis Jude
