Queen of the Road

Empty-nester Dee thought she could finally rest on her laurels. Though not everyone would consider her accomplishments noteworthy, to Dee the fact that she had a successful marriage and a happy daughter off at college meant that she had done her job well. She'd overcome her own unpredictable childhood and kept everything in her life under control. She'd taken excellent care of her home, her family, even her in-laws. Martha Stewart Living had been her bible. So imagine her shock when her physician husband of 25 years leaves her for his colleague. The life and home she so carefully curated feels like a prison of false memories. On a whim, she joins a training class for a nearby trucking company. At five-foot-one, clad in stylish clothes and designer cowboy boots, she doesn't look like anyone's idea of a truck driver, and not everyone is happy to have her there. But Dee perseveres. With growing confidence, she and her canine companion, Spot, travel the country adopting new attitudes, diverse acquaintances, and perhaps new love. Then a violent roadside attack derails her newfound confidence. Can she overcome this new trauma and once again rediscover the joy of living?
