The Story Tristan Collins, a 19-year-old college student, desperately wants to live a normal life with his family. Unfortunately, his little brother's hospitalization has turned life in the Collins household upside-down. Despite the leukemia eating away at young Will's body, Tristan fights to keep his brother happy in the only way he knows how: storytelling. His black-leather sketchbook holds a wealth of zany characters and illustrations for the express purpose of making his immunocompromised brother smile. Unfortunately, Tristan isn't completely immune to the bleak prognosis. With his new friends, Izzy (a future opera starlet overwhelmed by an upcoming recital) and Makiko (a medical student who would much rather spend her days behind an easel), Tristan must learn how to help himself before he can help anyone else.About the AuthorLuke Jackson received his BA in Music from Stony Brook University in 2019, and his Masters in Music Education from the University of Florida in 2024. He began his career in education after relocating to Florida during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he works as the director of a middle school choral program. He happily resides in Orlando with his two cats, Lucy and Chelsea. He hopes his writing, teaching, and illustration will inspire the next generation to use their God-given talents to bring light to the world.
