The Last Light of Day

As the captain of the Guards of Nightfall, Ryder abides by the rules and upholds every regulation to the letter. When he's compelled to save Taryn from his mortal foes, however, several of those rules begin to crumble around him-even the staunchest one that asserts he keep his clandestine vampire world a secret. His priorities begin to shift from his duty to Taryn, which becomes less than ideal as those same mortal foes realign their sights on overtaking the vampire nation. The threat intensifies after they abduct Ryder's dear friend, who also happens to be the heir to the vampire monarchy. Taryn, an ER nurse who's just about seen it all, finds herself in an unimaginable situation when she witnesses a preface to the traumatic events that define her career. The continued aftermath places very human Taryn in a world that she never knew coexisted with her own, one full of dangerous intrigue and fathomless mystery-and very inhuman characters. She finds herself swept away, with her sense of self, heart, and mortality at stake. Ryder finds himself unable to release from his protection the temptress that is Taryn, and Taryn finds herself drawn to Ryder in ways that she can't explain. While they both know they need to eventually go their separate ways, something-or someone-persists in pulling them together. That force, which quickly becomes undeniable, is what gets them placed into an inconceivably transformative situation, one that will change the course of their lives forever.
