Kit and the Silver Cloud Express

A wonderfully illustrated book about a child and grandparents, separated by distance, who find a way to stay connected through adventure on a special cloud. Based on a bedtime story the author told her children, the story encourages children to use imagination to create their own adventure stories.

Kit becomes sad when it's time to say goodbye to Nonna and Papa because they live so far away. Then Kit comes up with a BIG IDEA for how they can see each other more often and have adventures at the same time: their very own cloud! After searching, they spot the perfect cloud which they name Silver Cloud Express. The cloud floats past, but Nonna has an idea for how they can find the cloud again for their adventures.

After the grandparents leave, Kit finds it hard to wait for the cloud and grandparents to return. Kit feels discouraged at times. After several weeks, Kit is awakened by a loud noise and finds the grandparents and Silver Cloud Express have arrived. They are off on an adventure, at first peaceful but then wild, and end up in Antarctica! Kit sees a penguin chick floating all alone on melting ice and comes up with a plan for how to rescue the chick. It's scary..... will Kit succeed? Will they find the chick's family?
