Kayla could not believe that she was finally going to the first grade. All summer long she had asked her mom, dad, and even all the kids on the block all about the fun things that happened in first grade. She had learned how first graders did not take naps like the younger kids and that they got to have recess in the big school yard with the older kids. Kayla was so ready to be a first grader, or at least she thought she was, until her mom told her that first graders ride the school bus. Kayla grew so nervous.
