Robert Edward Scanes was born in Poplar, London, England. He served in the Royal Air Force for six years as air crew, experiencing the blitz in the London area and then spending 2 RAF years in Singapore. He emigrated to Montreal, Canada with his wife and 3-year-old daughter in 1957. The aircraft industry eventually led him and his expanded family (2 boys) to The Boeing Company in Washington State. His very active lifestyle included ballroom and square dancing, teaching XC skiing, oil painting, woodworking, photography, making wine and hosting on the cruise lines. This is the true story of an ordinary man living an extraordinary life, written in his own words.
