The book is centered on an elderly man named Sio, living in a residential facility, who longs to be in his own home. His conversations with a visitor, a good friend of the facility's owner. He talks about his love for his independence, that is slipping, or is being taken away from him.

Sio speaks about the way of life before and later, in a sequence of conversations, varying from cordial to agonizimg. He seems further more troubled about his daughter's reaction and his stay at the residential home. He explains a shortcoming about finding out his daughter's plan and what brought him to the residential home.

The hatred for his daughter was fully warranted, given his mental and physical status and poor attitude are indicators of this confusing time in his life. How would you feelif life's two important treasures hang in the balance have slipped away.

The book reminds us just how precious our time and our minds are;and also to anyone, which can be very confusing.
