Combined with A CHRONOLOGICAL COLLECTION OF ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY FOUR SABER GUARDS [TSUBA] FROM THE 10TH TO THE 18TH CENTURY - Dating from 1902. This combined edition holds a large number of tsuba images and some background information on the periods in which they were made.
Mr. Tadamasa Hayashi produced a large volume of work about Japanese art and was instrumental in many instances in introducing aspects to Europe.
Images are original period photos and variations of quality in some will regrettably be evident, though enhanced as far as practical. More recent images or close copies have been added when possible for clarity. Eighty eight pages make up his publication.
