Gracie’s goal is to find a summer job that pays more than minimum wage so she can save enough money to buy a condo by her 29th birthday. Unfortunately, her first step is to move in with her parents in their 55 plus neighborhood, but she tells herself it’s only temporary. When she meets Erik, the irresistable barista at the local coffee shop, her summer begins to look more promising. Thanks to her interfering mother, she finds herself working as a landscaper for Wyatt, who seems to have little faith that Gracie will be able to perform to his satisfaction and gives her a one week trial period. How is she going to get through the entire summer with her difficult new boss?
Wyatt isn’t happy about being saddled with inexperienced help, but he has no choice since he’s down one employee and summer is his busiest season, so he reluctantly takes on Gracie, the daughter of one of his clients. He realizes, on her first day at work, that he’s in for trouble when she ignores his frequent advice to stay hydrated to avoid heatstroke and then faints into a client’s rhododendron bush. As they spend day after day together, he realizes he has feelings for her but keeps them hidden. When he finally gains the courage to speak up, he sees Gracie with Erik and fears he’s left it too long. But when has he ever been afraid of hard work when it means getting what he wants?
