This book presents the Village Development Model (VDM) that looks at development in a different perspective in such a way that communities are helped or facilitated to develop from where they are with what they have. The model suggests that people need not to be given free materials per say but they should be able to contribute to anything they want to start up a project from government or NGO. It relies on the concept and model of co-funding which creates responsibility, ownership, and promotion of the project by the beneficiary because of the cost attached to it. In the Village Development Modal, a village is taken as the basic unit for development or contact / focal point for service delivery and the village members are assisted to identify their needs, and what they want to do, and the development path they would like to purse.
