A collection of sixth- to nineteenth-century Tibetan Buddhist bronze statues from Tibet, Nepal, Pakistan, and Mongolia. Eternal Transience, Enlightened Wisdom contextualizes thirty-three bronze statues and thangkas of deities and gurus in Tibetan Buddhism from Tibet, Nepal, Pakistan, and Mongolia dating from the sixth to nineteenth centuries. From an art history perspective, these Himalayan masterpieces reflect an array of aesthetic and artistic traditions from neighboring regions across the Indian subcontinent and Central Asia. This book provides a comprehensive analysis of the artworks' iconography and material culture.
