Buying the Ranch: Facing Real Life

Joanne Botticelli, the likable heroine of Virtue Hathaway’s new novel, Buying the Ranch is a Young divorcee with a taste for older men-a taste she indulges on several occasions in this story about an Artist’s. quest for meaning in San Francisco during the 60’s. Her search takes her to the west coast of Mexico where there were no roads, only jungle and pristine beachs limiting access to lusty men like Vincent Cooper, Joanna’s love interest, with their airplanes. The book follows her difficulties and pleasures during this time of undeveloped beauty. Her interaction with the people and her own emotions take her to extemes of drama.
