Ania was only nineteen when her entire life was turned upside down by war.

Separated from her twin sister, Michalina, and everyone she knows and loves, it's all she can do to wake up every day and go on with life in the Warsaw Ghetto, never knowing what her fate will bring. It's been months since she's had word from Michalina, and every second brings her closer to despair.

Until she meets the children.

The orphaned children of the ghetto give Ania precisely what she needs - a purpose. They fill the void left by the absence of her family, and she, in turn, whispers magical stories of a fairytale world where there is no war.

But when word of her sister finally comes from the terrifying Treblinka extermination camp, Ania must make a fateful choice. Will she be strong enough to make the ultimate sacrifice to save her children?
