Many people feel reluctant to do meritorious deeds. Sometimes, people postpone the opportunity to do meritorious deeds after calculating costs. However, this story is about an extraordinary many who did a momentous meritorious deed without considering the fact that he might be punished by the king. Daily flowers for the king Bimbisara of the Rajagaha was delivered by a florist names Sumana. One day he saw the Supreme Buddha approaching him with an aura of colours glimmering from the body. That very sight made Sumana extremely happy and his heart was filled with confidence about the Supreme Buddha. With overflowing happiness he offered all the flowers that he was carrying to the palace to the Buddha. That day the king did not receive any flowers… so what happened to Sumana the florist?
