Que un drama se nutra de referentes biblicos no implica religiosidad ni reverencia sino, en sentido amplio, parodia: reescritura con variacion. De las doce piezas que figuran aqui, cuatro fueron escritas antes de 1959: dos recrean la natividad y las otras dos la pasion de Jesus, un Cristo pirandelliano y otro del absurdo. Las ocho restantes hablan del bebe de Rosemary, de la muerte de Dios en Vietnam, de Judas, de un pais ensangrentado, del Job de las pustulas, de un Daniel victima de la guerra de Angola, de extranas epifanias y siempre, en fin, del evangelio de la Revolucion.
