In 1949 a young Hungarian immigrant arrived in Belgium with a suitcase and a few dollars in his pocket. A little under fifty years later, Alexandre Lamfalussy presented the draft designs for the Euro banknotes - the second global currency - to the press. This book was born out of the desire to preserve the memory and trace the life of this exceptional European. AUTHOR: Christophe Lamfalussy is the eldest son of Alexandre Lamfalussy and a journalist. Ivo Maes is professor and senior advisor at the Department of Studies at the National Bank, Belgium.
