Uttarakhand, officially the State of Uttarakhand, formerly known as Uttaranchal, is a state in the northern part of India. It is often referred to as the Devbhumi (literally Land of the Gods ) due to a large number of Hindu templesand pilgrimage centres found throughout the state. Uttarakhand is known for the natural environment of the Himalayas, the Bhabharand the Terai. On 9 November 2000, Uttarakhand became the 27th state of the Republic of India, being created from the Himalayan and adjoining northwestern districts of Uttar Pradesh. The Government of Uttarakhand also known as the State Government of Uttarakhand, or locally as State Government, is the supreme governing authority of the Indian state of Uttarakhand and its 13 Districts.
It consists of an executive branch, led by the Governor of Uttarakhand, a judiciary branch, led by the Chief Justice of Uttarakhand and a legislative branch led by the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. The book is a must read for anyone genuinely interested in Uttrakhand and realising its full potential. Of late, a fair amount of written material has appeared on Uttrakhand.
