The couple's marriage is tested by Lord Carlyon's PTSD, and Kate must find a way to be both a wife and a mother to her husband. She also faces the challenges of running Carlyon Hall, which has been neglected during Lord Carlyon's absence. Despite the challenges they face, Kate and Lord Carlyon eventually find a way to rebuild their lives and their marriage. They are a reminder that even in the darkest of times, love can conquer all.
