from the author: hey. it's really special to me that you're reading this. I just want to tell you that the poems in this book are about the beautiful people I met last year; I'm sure some of you are reading the back right now. I have spent my whole life afraid of connection, afraid to be myself amongst strangers. I was surprised upon writing this that not only am I no longer afraid, but that these strangers became my beautiful friends, and the love they have shown me in every way is something I could have never imagined. it is a challenge to write 21 poems in 21 days - least of all when I have struggled to get out of bed in the morning- but this time, upon completing the #WriteAngle a second time, something has altered in the way I've written poetry - a love, a fascination, a growing warm connection with the new people that I have fallen in love with on every scale. this book is about them; about those I know personally and some who I don't, and some things which came to mind while thinking of them. I love us - the people I've created these bonds with are strange, and queer, selfless, determinate and radiant beyond all comprehension. I will never understand anyone, and perhaps that is the most unique thing I learned about loving other people-- that in our lack of understanding and strangeness, our souls still reach for each other. I love you always. Grey
