Lysbeth agrees to marry Montalvo in order to save him, only to discover his true intentions on their wedding night. She escapes with the help of Dirk and joins a group of rebels fighting against the Spanish occupation. Lysbeth and Dirk are willing to risk everything to be together as they fight for freedom and their love for each other grows stronger.
