Kate quits and her family disowns her. She has a tough life and experiences many a problem before things finally turn around for her. This is a tale of hard labour and true love. It is also the story of lots of women at the time. There are ordinary women, bold women, needy women and shrewd women. Kate's real aim is to own and develop a large farm. The characters are human and the conditions are authentic. After refusing the easy way to her dream, she hurts through a bad marriage but finally obtains her land and attains happiness.
