First published in February 1919, 'My Inventions' is an enlightening autobiographical account of Nikola Tesla, written at the age of 63. One of the most important technological innovators of the modern industrial age, Nikola Tesla was a Serbian American inventor and engineer who discovered and patented the rotating magnetic field, the root of most alternating-current machinery. He also originated the three-phase system of electric power transmission. He immigrated to the United States in 1884 and sold the patent rights of his system of alternating-current dynamos, transformers, and motors to George Westinghouse. In 1891 he invented the 'Tesla coil', an induction coil widely used in radio technology.
This firsthand account reveals the captivating life of a genius. Well-known for the radio, robotics, and wireless energy, Tesla quickly gained international fame for his pioneering inventions. The content of the book was largely drawn from a series of articles that Nikola Tesla had written for Electrical Experimenter magazine. It is a fascinating window into the principles and practices of Tesla's singular world. Here we witness the art and science behind the conception, execution, and reception of Tesla's most famous inventions. In this personal account, Tesla tells about his life, how his inventions came to him, and even how his inventions helped save his life. He tells his encounters with famous people, his brushes with death, which happened more than once, and also about some future ideas.
