Implanting an intraocular lens (IOL) in a patient without adequate support for a posterior chamber (behind the iris of the lens) IOL is a complex procedure for ophthalmic surgeons. In the past, if an anterior chamber IOL was not possible, the only surgical option was suturing a posterior IOL.
This book discusses the new technique of ‘glued intrascleral haptic fixation of a posterior chamber IOL’ (Glued IOL). Beginning with an introduction, the following chapters describe different surgical processes for glued IOL, for both common and less common conditions. The final section examines complications and imaging, and compares the techniques and results of glued IOLs and sutured IOLs.
With contributions from recognised ophthalmic surgeons in the UK, USA, Canada and Asia, this book features more than 460 colour photos and illustrations. A DVD demonstrating glued IOL surgical procedures is included.
