Addressed to midwives, nurses, and other primary health care workers, the manual responds to the unacceptably high death rates of pregnant women and young children in Western Pacific countries. As most of these deaths are preventable, the manual aims to help health workers communicate essential health information that is clear and easy to follow, and encourages actions that are convenient as well as practical.
