This 2003 report is an update on the epidemiological situation of tuberculosis in the Western Pacific Region and shows the progress of Directly Observed Treatment Short-course (DOTS) programs. National Tuberculosis Programs of 33 countries and areas (accounting for a population of 1.702 billion) submitted data on cases notified during 2001 and the treatment results of the cohort of patients registered during 2000.
