Travel and Tourism Under Pandemic Conditions - Review and Preparation Exercise

The recommendations and conclusions reached during this review and preparation exercise on travel and tourism under pandemic conditions held in Madrid on the 26 and 27 of August 2009 are important for the tourism sector as well as for other social and economic activities depending on travel and tourism. Since the outbreak of the influenza virus on April 2009, the travel and tourism sector has been extremely challenged. This publication highlights the salient points raised during the discussions of this review and preparation exercise and should serve as a useful tool in planning ahead to ensure that the sector is better prepared for the evolving pandemic.
