The book of Dr. Michael Stanley ‘Emanuel Swedenborg & his Heavenly Secrets’, translated into Russian by Tanja Perskaja, has had an original title ‘Swedenborg, Essential Readings’. Initially published in 1988 in English, it was well received among the English-speaking public, and therefore had several later editions published in Great Britain, US and Australia. This book gives an excellent insight into the great eighteenth century Swedish scientist and spiritual philosopher Swedenborg’s personal world and his heavenly teachings. In his introduction to the book, Stanley gives an account of Swedenborg’s scientific achievements which have, and will continue to have, a great impact on the world’s contemporary scientific community. Moreover, the structure of the volume’s thirteen chapters and well-chosen quotations with Dr. Stanley’s own comments, makes Swedenborg’s Christian doctrine fully comprehensible and involving.
