Fylld av foervantan anlander Miranda och hennes bada assistenter till den svenska Antarktiska stationen, men ganska snart inser hon att nagot inte ar vad det ser ut att vara. Nar en av assistenterna skadas under undersoekningen av meteoriten star det snart klart att det inte bara ar en vanlig rymdsten som de har att goera med, utan nagot langt mycket varre. Nar assistenten och annu en medlem av expeditionen avlider tvingas Miranda ta nagra svara beslut som foer henne och stationens lakare, Rasmus, tillbaka till Stockholm dar utvecklingen snart leder till en foeroedande foerveckling nar viruset sprider sig och foervandlar manniskor till blodtoerstiga monster.
